Introducing /blog: Art, Place & the Creative Journey
Welcome to the new Jay Ehm Blog, a place to explore the ideas, landscapes, experiences, and creative process behind the artwork at JayEhm.com.
The paintings begin with a sense of place. Works such as Lowcountry Spring and Meg’s Marsh draw inspiration from the quiet beauty of the Lowcountry—the changing light, open horizons, marshes, water, and subtle rhythms of the natural world. Other works, including Horizons, Rising, and Brushed, explore something more elemental: color, movement, atmosphere, and the simple experience of looking.
The blog will offer a closer look at what happens behind the finished painting. I’ll share stories about places that inspire me, observations from the landscape, works in progress, discoveries in the studio, and the ideas that influence my approach to making art.
It will also be a place to talk about art and life—why we make things, why certain places stay with us, and how art can bring a little more beauty, reflection, love, and peace into our everyday surroundings.
